More of an idea

Tried using the blur tool in Photoshop to  make the edge of the black and white and colour sections more like a wave form.

Hand drawn wave forms in the colour areas using the Dodge tool in Photoshop. Most of these techniques are just experiments with Photoshop as I am still learning many of it's abilities.

Some test photoshop ideas of my cat Clawhammer, I was thinking that the sound could be emanating from the source like ripples on a pond. Then I tried to just hand draw some audio wave forms to see what it looked like.
